LCM Exams

LCME Popular Music Vocals exams, regulated by the University of West London, assess technical singing skills and performance within a range of pop music genres. Candidates prepare songs and undergo a discussion about their chosen repertoire. The exams can be taken in person or as recorded digital submissions and are available in different grades, with corresponding handbooks offering technical exercises, audio downloads, and guidance. 

Key Components

Vocal Exercises: Candidates perform a series of warm-up exercises designed to develop vocal technique. 

Performance: This involves singing a selection of songs from the repertoire.

Discussion: Candidates are asked questions about their chosen songs, performance choices, and general knowledge of the pieces performed. 

Exam Format

Grades 1-8: Exams are available at various levels to suit different abilities. 

Digital Submission: Recorded exams must be submitted as a single file.
